DrBicuspid (10/22, Busch) reported that a study published in the International Journal of Dentistry found that music therapy significantly improves perioperative outcomes for patients undergoing third-molar extractions. The randomized, blinded, controlled clinical trial involving 42 patients revealed that music therapy reduced systolic blood pressure (p = 0.021), pain scores (p = 0.035), and respiratory rate (p = 0.015) compared to control groups. The study, led by Edson Luiz Cetira Filho from Christus University, suggests music therapy as an effective nonpharmacological strategy to enhance recovery and well-being in these patients.
