DrBicuspid (6/10) reported that a study published in the International Dental Journal found that crown lengthening before crown placement enhances the long-term survival of structurally compromised teeth. Conducted by Ahmad Alhabashi and colleagues at Mohammed Bin Rashid University, the study reviewed 179 teeth from 81 adults treated at Dubai Dental Hospital between 2011 and 2021. The findings indicated a 96.8% survival rate at five years and 95% at ten years, with endodontic treatment significantly improving outcomes. The authors emphasized the need for further research to evaluate cost-effectiveness and patient-reported outcomes.
