Dimensions Of Dental Hygiene reports that a cross-sectional study investigated the potential links between serum vitamin D levels, measured by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry, and oral health outcomes in 7 to 9-year-old Norwegian children. The adjusted analysis did not reveal statistically significant associations between vitamin D status and the prevalence or number of teeth affected by caries or molar incisor hypomineralization. The study emphasized the need for large prospective studies with multiple serum vitamin D measurements and oral examinations throughout childhood to better understand the relationship between vitamin D and oral health in children. The findings were published in BMC Public Health.
