DrBicuspid  (3/24) reported that a review  in the Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice suggests patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcers are at higher risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Led by Maria Cláudia Alves from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the study highlighted that GERD patients had higher indices for decayed, missing, and filled teeth, as well as periodontal disease. The authors stressed the need for interdisciplinary treatment approaches between doctors and dental surgeons due to the potential link between GERD and oral health issues.
